Alex Villegas treats us to a fascinating discussion on his life journey and his transition from working in advertising to shamanism, healing traumas, mechanics of consciousness, 20 minute near death experience of his partner, supernatural encounters and more. https://www.firstmemory.one/alex-villegas In a culture that values specialization and the endless pursuit of accolades, Alex has always been a bit hard to categorize. A generalist at heart, he has many interests and talents. His view of self-actualization is holistic and therefore his approach has always been multi-disciplinary. He trains his body, mind, and spirit with equal fervor and juggles multiple lines of development as opposed to focusing on the mastery of one. His path as a shamanic practitioner started around the age of 17 after a very powerful religious experience awoke an undying hunger for spiritual understanding and for being of service to others. Fourteen years later, after having lived through the near-death experience of his partner, Desiree Saltkill, during which he had a transformative encounter with an angelic being, he started taking his healing path strategically and began studying with authors Suzanne Winterton and later Janet Sussman. As his practice shifted focus toward the shamanic arts, he apprenticed under Dave Metz, Ellen Kittredge, and Jeff Firewalker in the Andean traditions of Pachakuti Mesa and Eagle Condor Council. In recent years he began his walk using tobacco as a sacred healing plant under the tutelage of Jeff Firewalker and Prajna Ginty. He is now an Assistant Teacher of The Eagle Condor Council. He has been a bodybuilder, martial artist, and athlete for over 25 years and physical training is an important element of his daily practice as it incorporates aspects of mental, emotional, and awareness disciplines. Currently, he is a Shamanic Practitioner, Personal Trainer, Self-Defense Instructor, and Nutrition Counselor. Previously, he served as a Search and Rescue Specialist in the Georgia State Defense Force and an Executive Protection Officer in a private security detail. Guiding others to have a healthier, optimally functional body is an important step toward helping them live in their power. He holds a BFA in Communication Arts and has over 20 years of experience as a Creative Director, having led award-winning marketing campaigns for brands like American Airlines, Toyota, Bell Helicopter, Coca-Cola, and Nationwide Insurance. Today, he continues to use his passion for technology and innovation as a way to modernize ancient healing traditions into contemporary and culturally-relevant sacred dance and performance events hosted at The Maryposa Healing Center in Atlanta, GA.
