Education

This week I'm joined by, the assistant sprints and hurdles coach at the University of Tennessee. My guy Coach Ken Harnden. Originally from Zimbabwe, Ken knew he had to work hard for whatever he wanted in life, but he also understood what it meant to be grateful for what you have. Throughout his athletic career, Ken was a force to be reckoned with, he made a name for himself when he walked on to the university of north Carolina and won the NCAA title in 1995. From there he turned professional and went on to represent Zimbabwe at 2x Olympic games, (1996 & 2000), 3 world championships, and 2 commonwealth games. While his track and field resume as an athlete speaks volumes, he matched if not surprised that level as a coach. From 2003-15: he was the assistant sprint coach at Florida State University. From 2015-18: he was the assistant sprint coach at the University of Georgia, and since 2018 he's been the assistant sprint and hurdle coach at the University of Tennessee. Throughout his coaching tenure to date, he's coached 25 athletes NCAA Individual Championships throughout his coaching tenure. He's won 5 NCAA Team Championships, 160+ All-America Honors athletes, 14 Olympians, 6 Sub-10 100m sprinters & 6 NCAA 200m Champions and he's 3x recipient of the USTFCCCA Asst. Coach of the Year award.
