Iron Deficiency Anemia

Miscellaneous

Like in the last episode, we are diving deep into absorbing more iron. But unlike last time when we were discussing avoiding blockers, this time we are adding helpers. This is my favorite part!    In today’s episode, I share some common myths about iron absorption, some actionable steps you can consider for your journey, and I even share some great ways to add delicious, energy-boosting foods to your diet. Remember to always consult your doctor before making major changes to your diet and to know that you are on your own unique journey with your unique body.     Show Notes: [2:01] - One of the biggest myths Asia hears is that you need to be a red meat eater. This is not accurate.  [2:28] - You can even be on a plant-based diet. You need to be intentional on what to add to your meals. [3:38] - Take a deep breath and remember that this is your body and your unique journey. [4:31] - When you think about helpers, you need to think about vitamin C. Asia lists some great food items to choose from that are high in vitamin C. [5:09] - Asia mixes her vitamin C item with her plant based meals. She lists some types of foods she does this with. [6:01] - When you mix vitamin C with tofu, beans, or dark leafy greens, it helps your body absorb more iron. [6:57] - The third tip Asia has for you is to choose food that you like. If you are not choosing foods you are excited about, it is not a sustainable diet. [8:32] - Asia describes one of her favorite meals during the cooler months and how she adds helpers for absorption. She is very intentional on what she adds. [11:04] - Of these choices in vitamin C, what are some things you are already doing? [11:47] - Asia gets creative with the tofu and beans and describes how she makes hummus, dips, and soups. [12:24] - An actionable step to take now is to decide at what time will you enjoy your coffee or tea to avoid them blocking your iron rich meal or supplement. Be intentional. [12:53] - Sauteing greens in an iron skillet is a quick and easy addition to your meals. [13:29] - You always want to check with your doctor before making big changes in your diet. [13:57] - Starting January 10th, join Asia for the Five Day Energy Boosting Challenge. You will spend five days with Asia for her to answer your questions and get started on this journey.  [15:02] - This is not an information dump. This is a full experience with energy boosting recipes and actionable steps to take on your journey. Sign up here. 16:04] - In addition to the Five Day Energy Boosting Challenge, Asia is opening the doors to The Nourish Way. Go to her website for more information. You are not in this alone.
