Whit, Aimee, and David discuss some of the lessons we learned together throughout 2020. Here are just a few: 1. Change is not an option, but the way we respond to it is • Plans are good, Flexibility is crucial • Growth does not happen without change—comfort prevents us from growing • Challenging circumstances can create opportunities for people to shine • Every obstacle is an opportunity • When handled well, it can lead to creativity, forces to think outside the box. 2. The mission doesn’t stop even in crisis • Easy to stick with what you know, requires effort, brainpower, passion, and direction to rethink purposes and effectiveness behind what we do. 3. You’re communicating whether you like it or not… do it often and do it well 4. Community is critical – we’re made for relationships • People are more important than programs • Encouragement really is encouraging • Support is vital 5. Self-care is essential. • Know your limits and set boundaries, implement to healthy rhythms. • Be still and listen—God speaks when we aren’t too busy to hear Him. Wrap identity in Christ and not circumstance.
