She Doesn’t Settle

Miscellaneous

Today marks the 100th episode of the She Doesn’t Settle podcast – that’s 2 years! – and it would never have been possible without all of you wonderful people! I also never would have gotten this far if it weren’t for the topic of this special centenary episode – the power of endurance. I, of course, had definite goals when I started this podcast, and endurance is one of the key ingredients that has helped me reach them, so let’s dig into it here today. First, we’ll start by defining endurance, look at examples from my life, and explore the difference between endurance and discipline. I’ll also review ‘the messy middle’ and the role resistance plays, and then share strategies and resources that will show you how to endure. It’s time to celebrate – we have hit a huge milestone thanks to the gift of endurance – and I can’t think of anyone I would rather celebrate with than all of you! Thank you all for enduring with me, and let the journey to our 200th episode together begin today. As always, if there is ever a topic you would like me to discuss, a guest you’d like me to interview on the podcast, or feedback you wish to offer, please feel free to contact me at pr@kellytravis.net - I would love to hear from you!   The Finer Details of This Episode:    Defining endurance   Examples of endurance from my life   The difference between discipline and endurance   The messy middle   Understanding resistance   How to endure   Simon Sinek’s Start With Why   Quotes: “It's the power to keep going, to withstand something challenging. It's the ability to do something difficult for a long time - a long ass time - maybe 100 episodes.” “One of the main reasons that people fail in their own business or with their health goals, or a side project or a hobby, or personal goals, I don't know, like a marathon, is because they don't have the endurance to keep pushing through after they fail.” “I think discipline is what gets us started, right? We find a rhythm, we're showing up, we're staying accountable, and endurance is what we need to actually finish.” “It's when you're navigating the challenging journey that you find your strength, that you recognize your resilience, that you recognize, you know, all of these attributes that you have.” “The better understanding we have of resistance, our own resistance, the more likely we will endure.” “It's important that you pause and that you take note of those critical messages that are coming, because they're distraction, they are the thing that is going to really just encourage you to quit.” “Remember, when setting your goals, you identify your ‘why’.” “Everything that is worth doing is tough.” “It's only failure if you don't do anything with the information you got from it.” “If we are impatient, we cannot endure.” “Focusing on the outcome can cause you to give up because it can create anxiety or self doubt.” “Remember your ‘why’, don't be afraid to fail, practice patience, set clear milestones, and don't focus on the outcome or over identify with it.” “I think it goes without saying that having support of some kind is critical as well.” “The days where I feel like no one wants to listen to me, thanks for listening to me.” “We made it to 100! I think that's a big deal - we should be celebrating!”   Show Links: Kelly’s homepage - www.kellytravis.net Ascend Mastermind - www.kellytravis.net/ascend    Breathing New Life into Old Goals Old Goals 2 - Staying in Motion 7 Key Takeaways from My First Marathon Are You a Quitter?
